* The 2014 World Chiller Market - Europe
The European chiller market was US$ 1.6 billion in 2014, recording only a slight decline from 2013. The reciprocating, scroll, and screw chiller segment increased 1.5%, while the centrifugal chiller segment and absorption chiller segment saw decreases of 10.5% and 11.2%, respectively. It is estimated that the European chiller market will see 3-4% growth in 2015.

1. What Is The Best Alternative to R410A?
Air conditioners are both sold in high numbers and use a large volume of refrigerant. R410A has become the main air conditioner refrigerant, but its GWP is quite high at approximately 2,090. Therefore, the view to phase down and ultimately phase out the refrigerant is gathering momentum globally. A number of refrigerants have been proposed as alternatives.

2. Sanden Equips Biocoop 21 Pop-up Store Operating During
The French organic food retailer Biocoop has chosen innovative Sanden commercial refrigeration technology to equip Biocoop 21, its popup store in Paris. The store opened on November 4 and will close on December 30, and this timing coincides with the 21th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), COP21, to be held in Paris.

3. AHRI to Reinforce Refrigerant R&D Commitment at White House Event
At a White House Industry Leader Roundtable on October 15, the Air- Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) provided a progress report on its 2014 pledge to invest US$ 5 billion in research over the next 10 years for new refrigerants and heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) equipment to support energy efficiency.

4. China Vows to Accelerate Phase-out of HCFCs
Chinese enterprises are strengthening their awareness on environmental protection, responding actively to the Montreal Protocol requirement to develop R22 substitution technologies that are both ozone layer and climate friendly, benefiting industry progress and environment stewardship at the same time.

5. Fujitsu General Reinforces Engineering Base in Thailand
Fujitsu General plans to double its development activities in the commercial air conditioner field by constructing a new R&D Center at Fujitsu General Engineering (Thailand) (FGE), a commercial air conditioner development facility in Thailand.
