In 1983, Hitachi became the first company in the world to succeed in the commercialization and mass production of scroll compressors for commercial air conditioners, and installed them in its commercial packaged air conditioners (PACs). In the 40 years since then, scroll compressors have been applied in a wide range of segments from cooling, heating, and refrigeration, to residential, light commercial, commercial, and industrial, and have established a large global market. Global scroll compressor demand continued to grow in 2022, up 5.7% over 2021, according to JARN’s estimate.
