On February 7, 2023, European Chemical Agency (ECHA) published the Annex XV Restriction Report, a restriction proposal for perand polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), on its website. The proposal was prepared by authorities in five European countries, i.e. Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, and was submitted to ECHA on January 13, 2023. It seeks a ban on both the use and production of more than 10,000 different types of PFASs to be addressed throughout the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). If passed, it will constitute the largest substances ban ever in Europe.
