Japanese Government Considers Introduction of Carbon Tax

There are increasing numbers of countries across the world aiming for carbon neutrality in 2050. In October 2020, the Japanese government also declared its intention to target carbon neutrality in 2050. As one way to achieve this goal, the Japanese Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) began discussions on the introduction of Carbon Pricing (CP) in February this year.
