The year 2020 started with high expectations for the entire Brazilian economy until the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. The pre-pandemic market forecasts indicated that the Brazilian economy would grow by 2.20% compared with 2019. However, at the peak of restrictions on circulation and social interaction during the pandemic, the forecast turned into a decline of 6.60%. The impact of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic varied by economic segment, but all segments were more or less affected, excluding segments related to food and health.
