Development of Next-generation Refrigerants

The requirements for refrigerants include their safety, environmental friendliness, performance, and economic efficiency.

Safety requires that they must be non-toxic and have low flammability risks; environmental friendliness requires that they must have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a low global warming potential (GWP); performance requires that they generate a large amount of evaporative latent heat and that phase changes occur at a constant pressure; economic efficiency requires that they must be reasonably cost-effective and acceptable even in developing countries.
