1. China Accelerates Decarbonization— Report on CR 2024 in Beijing

In the global heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry, China has grown from a large market to a major manufacturing base, firmly establishing its leading position. 4. Sweltering Summer May Lead to Doubledigit Growth in AC Sales
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that India could witness higher-than-normal heat waves in the April to June period. Air conditioner companies typically report strong sales in the March to June quarter, and that trend is expected to continue this year too. Sales of air conditioners had witnessed a relatively slow start, contrary to expectations, but manufacturers are confident of registering double-digit growth to cross the 11.5-million unit sales mark during the fiscal year (FY) ending March 2025.

5. Chinese Brands Speed up Manufacturing in Thailand
Tariff barriers due to the trade friction between China and the United States have had a major impact on the industrial chain. Since 2019, the U.S. tariff on air conditioners imported from China has risen from 2.2 to 25%. Chinese companies have responded by shifting some of their air conditioning manufacturing capacity from China to Thailand and Indonesia, which will help maintain exports to the United States while taking into account the Southeast Asian market.
