A-Gas Develops Carbon Credit Project for Washington State

On January 30, A-Gas announced that it was one of the first two carbon projects approved by the Washington State Department of Ecology for issuance of Ecology Offset Credits. The Washington State Legislature passed legislation mandating that the state become carbon neutral by 2050. As part of this, the Department of Ecology runs the state’s ‘cap-and-invest’ program, which sets a limit on total carbon emissions in the state. It also requires businesses to obtain allowances that equal their greenhouse gas emissions covered under the program.
