How to ensure the world reaches the energy goals it set at COP28

At the COP28 climate summit that concluded in Dubai in mid-December, countries around the world agreed to take some important steps forward to address the climate crisis. Encouragingly, several of the five key pillars for the global energy sector that we at the IEA set out ahead of COP28 were reflected in the outcomes, notably the 2030 goals of tripling renewable capacity, doubling energy efficiency progress, cutting methane emissions and moving away from fossil fuels.
