1. Kobe Symposium- Accelerating Decarbonization with Technologies
Kobe Symposium organized by Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) was held on November 16 and 17, 2023. This edition of the Kobe Symposium was the largest gathering ever, with about 630 participants from Japan, Southeast Asia, China, Europe, the United States, and others. The symposium has become a leading international meeting place, and covers the technological trends in the HVAC&R industry with valuable presentations on hot topics by stakeholders such as representatives from governments and associations, universities and research institutions, and mainstream manufacturers of systems, key components such as compressors, refrigerants and lubricants, etc.

2. Daikin Holds an Opening Ceremony for Its Third Indian AC Factory
At the end of November 2023, Daikin Air conditioning India held an opening ceremony for its new production base for room air conditioners (RACs) and compressors in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, southern India. Daikin already has two local factories and this new factory became its third major factory in India. Adding 1.5 million RACs to be manufactured annually in Sri City, Daikin will double its RAC production capacity in India to meet the expanding local demand.

3. YORK’s New Screw Chiller with R1234ze & Expanded Training Programs
On November 2, Johnson Controls announced the launch of the YORK YVAA Style B air-cooled screw chiller with R1234ze refrigerant. This is the first air-cooled variable-speed drive screw chiller marketed in the United States that uses the hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant R1234ze, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of 7 and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP).

4. Mitsubishi Electric Adopts Multi Strategies for Its Overseas AC&R Business
Mitsubishi Electric deploys a wide range of products in its air conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R) business throughout the world. JARN interviewed Masahiko Konishi, senior general manager, Overseas Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Systems Division, Living Environment & Digital Media Equipment Group, Mitsubishi Electric, to hear about the company’s strategy in India, Europe, and the United States, where AC&R market growth is expected.

In modern society, the population is aging and health consciousness is increasing.
