Mission Critical refers to all those applications or systems whose malfunction constitutes a business problem capable of causing particularly significant or even irreparable economic damage. These systems are therefore systems that, if interrupted, hinder productivity and cause substantial repercussions. The stall of the pump of a water treatment facility, or the failure of a jet engine are perfect examples, even if today the most common and recurring mission critical applications are those related to ICT and therefore concern database systems and servers that control processes. The failure of the servers would in fact bring with it irreparable damage in any type of data center, from enterprise to hyperscale.
