Washington State Delays Building Code Changes Banning Natural Gas
2023-07-25
On May 24, the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC) voted to delay implementation of changes to the building code that require new homes and apartments to use electric heat pumps for heating instead of natural gas systems. The building code changes were approved in April 2022 and set to take effect this July 1. With the delay, they are now set to go into effect in late October 2023.
