EPA Finalizes SNAP Rule 25

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued Final Rule 25 – Listing of Substitutes under the Significant New Alternatives Policy Program (SNAP) in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Fire Suppression. The finalized Rule 25 lists seven refrigerants that are acceptable for use in place of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants with high global warming potential (GWP), subject to use conditions. The American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act passed by Congress in December 2020 gives EPA the authority to regulate refrigerants to phase down use of HFCs.
