1. Thai AC Production and Sales Soar Thanks to Hot Weather
In Thailand, hot weather is spurring sales of air conditioners. The period spanning early March to mid May is the official summer season, although the tropical country has an average temperature of above 28ºC all year round. According to the Thai Meteorological Department this year, Thailand experienced the hottest summer in eight years. On April 16, the temperature reached 44.6ºC in Tak Province, located at the border between Northwest Thailand and Myanmar, matching the record in Mae Hong Son, north of Tak, on April 28, 2016.

2. Trane Develops New Refrigerant Products in a Well-balanced Manner

3. LG Invests US$ 37 Million to Manufacture AC Components
Under the PLI program initiated by the Indian government, LG Electronics India has invested US$ 37 million to manufacture air conditioner components, including US$12.3 million for compressor manufacturing. This landmark move has made LG the first brand to produce its own compressors within the country.

4. Bosch Ramps Up Heat Pump Production in Europe
German manufacturer Bosch has invested heavily since 2018 in order to expand its European heat pump development and manufacturing network. The company is to launch a new manufacturing site in Poland, with construction due to start in 2024. Moreover, Bosch is ramping up production of heat pumps in Germany in a context of unprecedented growth of the heat pump market in Europe.

5. Highly and Haier Build New Joint Compressor Factory in Zhengzhou
On April 8, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Zhengzhou air conditioning compressor production base, jointly financed by Highly and Haier. This joint venture (JV) has a registered capital of RMB 200 million (about US$ 28.9 million), of which Highly invested RMB 102 million (about US$ 14.7 million) in cash, holding a 51% stake, and Haier invested RMB 98 million (about US$ 14.6 million) in cash, holding 49%
