Engineering towards Net Zero — Report on ACREX India 2023
2023-05-01
The Indian heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry is currently doing much better than most countries in the world. It is expected to reach a market scale of US$ 30 billion by 2030. While meeting the growing needs of the Indian economy, it will severely stress the country’s energy consumption requirement for cooling purposes. As the world is struggling to tailor its energy profile to address the call made at the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, India’s own commitment to achieving net zero status by 2070 calls for redoubled efforts on the part of its HVAC&R industry to reduce its carbon footprint.
