First Use of Low-GWP Refrigerants in JCI Scroll and Screw Chillers in U.S.

Johnson Controls has announced the first use of refrigerants with low GWP in screw and scroll chillers in the United States. Specifically, R454B refrigerant was used in the YORK YLAA aircooled scroll chiller, and R1234ze refrigerant was used in the YORK YVFA free-cooling inverter screw chiller. R454B refrigerant has a GWP of 466 and replaces conventional R410A refrigerant. Meanwhile, R1234ze has an ultra-low GWP of just 7.
