1. Scientists Invent New Method of Refrigeration
Ionocaloric cooling is the name given to a new method of refrigeration developed by scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and published in the journal Science. Ionocaloric cooling uses salt made with iodine and sodium as well as the organic solvent ethylene carbonate, which is used in lithium-ion batteries, to drive the refrigeration cycle.

2. Danfoss Helps Move the Needle on Sustainable Cooling
On January 16, 2023, Danfoss Climate Solutions President Jürgen Fischer gathered with several government leaders and chief executive officers (CEOs) during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) to rally support for commitments to sustainable cooling and to highlight practical solutions. ADSW is the first milestone in the leadup to the next climate conference, the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) to be staged in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in November this year.

3. Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Launches air365 Max
On January 19, 2023, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning announced the release of the air365 Max designed with seamless comfort, energy efficiency, and easily workable features. Built with best-in-class efficiency up to an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 5.60, the air365 Max offers efficient energy consumption by Hitachi’s original SmoothDrive 2.0 technology which helps reduce running costs during part-load operation which also leads to reduced CO2 emissions. In addition, air365 Max requires 12% less refrigerant compared with conventional Hitachi variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems.

4. Hisense HVAC to Provide VRFs to Cool 170 Villas in Paradise Hills Project
Hisense HVAC, along with authorized distributor M.A.H.Y. KHOORY & CO. (Greenland) has signed a deal with Gulfland Properties, Hesper Electro-Mechanical and Marhaba Commercials & Industrial Investments to supply variable refrigerant flow (VRF) equipment to 170 villas within the framework of their Paradise Hills flagship project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Hisense HVAC has supplied 4,500 HP S+ series of VRF systems for this project.

5. CR Expo 2023 to Be Held from April 7 to 9 in Shanghai
China Refrigeration Expo (CR Expo) 2023, the 34th International Exhibition for Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation, Frozen Food Processing, Packaging and Storage, will be held from April 7 to 9, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, China. JARN intends to participate in the expo as a strategic media partner.
