1. Daikin to Upgrade Its ATW Heat Pump Range with Lower-GWP R454C Refrigerant
Daikin Europe will unveil Daikin Altherma 4, its next-generation air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps adopting lower-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, at ISH 2023 to be held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on March 13 to 17, 2023. In recent months, Daikin Europe has been steadily investing in both product development and manufacturing sites across Europe. Last year, the company announced it would build an entirely new heat pump factory in Poland, which is expected to be operational by mid-2024.

2. NY Governor Proposes Statewide Ban on Gas Heating
On January 10, Kathy Hochul, governor of New York State, advocated phasing out sales of fossil-fuel heating equipment in the state as part of her annual State of the State address. The proposals would keep New York State on track with the targets set in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, a state law passed in 2019 that requires the state cut its climate emissions according to a strict timeline.

3. Ziehl-Abegg – Technology Leader with Its Innovative Products
At Chillventa 2022 held in October in Germany, Ziehl-Abegg held a grand releasing ceremony for its new-generation ZAplus axial fan unit. After witnessing this grand event, JARN interviewed Dr. Sascha Klett, chief technology officer (CTO) of the company, to hear about the company’s technological leadership such as its innovative new fan unit.

4. Lubrizol and iXora to Provide Immersion Cooling Systems in Data Centers
Today, data centers are primarily cooled by inefficient, expensive air conditioners that consume unnecessary energy. Lubrizol’s immersion cooling ecosystem, using CompuZol immersion fluids, addresses the limitations posed by air-cooled methods by delivering turn-key, sustainable solutions that enable superior thermal management and greater infrastructure density.

5. Midea Invests RMB 10 Billion in Its New Industrial Park in Shunde
Midea Group plans to build a Digital Scientific and Technology Industrial Park, integrating research and development (R&D), design, manufacturing, and digitalization at Qunliwei Zone, Beijiao County, Shunde District, Guangdong Province. In Phase-1 project which covers over 333,000 m2, Midea Group invests RMB 10 billion (about US$ 1.5 billion) jointly with its holding subsidiary company, Midea Heating and Ventilation Equipment.
