1. Washington State to Require Heat Pumps in New Residential Construction
On November 4, Washington’s State Building Code Council passed a measure requiring that new homes and apartments in the state have heat pumps installed, which will go into effect July 2023. The move follows a similar measure the Council passed in April mandating that heat pumps be installed in new commercial and industrial buildings in Washington State.

3. Air Purifier Sales Boom in Face of Rising Pollution
As the air quality of Delhi Nation‑al Capital Region (NCR) and the surrounding area has been touching alarming levels in November, sales of air purifiers are going up and some of the manufacturers are expecting double-digit growth this season. Air purifiers, which have a market size below Indian rupee (INR) 5 billion (about US$ 61.7 million), are sold primarily in Tier-1 metropolitan cities. Their demand goes up in November and December, when the air quality index (AQI) touches alarming levels.

4. HARFKO 2022 Responds to Changes in Post-pandemic Era
HARFKO 2022 held at KINTEX in Korea and closed on October 21 after four days of spectacular exhibits. 167 companies from 17 countries set up 679 booths and showcased the latest solutions that communication technology (ICT) in line with the theme titled ‘Creating the future with digital innovation technology’. During HARFKO 2022, KRAIA held an opening ceremony for its affiliated research institute, the Korea Testing and Research Institute of Air-conditioning, Indoor Air Quality and Refrigeration (K-AIR). At the opening ceremony, KRAIA and AHRI signed an agreement on the conduct of qualification tests and annual tests based on official tests used for AHRI certification in K-AIR. This agreement is expected to reduce the burden of Korean companies which had encountered certification issues due to communication problems with other countries along with cost burdens, and will thus contribute to the expansion of the exports of these companies.

5. TCL Stages AC Event Themed ‘Together for a Connected Future’
On October 27, 2022, TCL held a grand air conditioning global partners’ conference in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Under the theme of ‘Together for a connected future’, the conference enabled indepth exchanges on current market prospects, growth opportunities, new product technologies, etc., and unveiled TCL’s strategic plans for next year’s sales. Along with more than 100 partners and journalists from all over the world, JARN was also invited to attend this conference. As a special guest, Soner Tetik, JARN Turkey and Middle East representative, also provided professional research and analysis of the global and regional air conditioning and air-to-water (ATW) heat pump market, helping TCL’s global partners to improve their decision-making, to achieve further growth in market sales.
