1. Panasonic to Expand European Hydronic Systems Business through Acquisition of Systemair AC Business
Panasonic will acquire three companies under Systemair AB: Systemair AC SAS based in France, as well as Systemair S.r.l. and Tecnair S.p.A. based in Italy. Of them, two Systemair companies mainly manufacture and sell air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and heat pumps, rooftops, and other commercial air conditioners. Meanwhile, Tecnair manufactures and sells special-purpose air conditioning systems for applications including data centers and clean rooms.

2. Global HVAC&R Manufacturers Ready for 2023 AHR Expo - AHR Preshow Report
The 2023 AHR Expo will be held on February 6 to 8, at Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia, the United States. The AHR Expo is co-sponsored by American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), and is held concurrently with ASHRAE’s Winter Conference. At this year’s venue, more than 1,500 exhibitors are expected to gather to showcase their latest innovations.

3. LG Electronics Presents Wise Heating for a Warm, Energy-efficient Winter
LG Electronics’ air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps are a wise choice, delivering next-level efficiency and a more eco-conscious performance to keep cozy indoors when it’s too frigid to go out. LG Therma V can provide year-around hot water supply, as well as heating and cooling for the whole house. Even when the temperature dips down to –7ºC outside, it still delivers powerful heating at an impressive 100% of capacity. LG Therma V also features Seasonal Auto Mode, which enables it to automatically adjust the performance in accordance with the temperature outdoors, and can heat water to a piping-hot temperature of 80ºC.

4. Carrier’s Wider HVAC Solutions Enable Its Customers’ Sustainability
On July 31, 2022, Carrier completed its acquisition of substantially all of Toshiba Corporation’s ownership stake in Toshiba Carrier Corporation (TCC). A long-standing joint venture between Carrier and Toshiba, TCC is a global provider of residential and light commercial HVAC solutions, including variable refrigerant flow (VRF) and heat pump products. Building on Carrier’s previous acquisition of Guangdong Giwee Group, TCC joined Global Comfort Solutions (GCS), Carrier’s newly created HVAC division headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. JARN interviewed Saif Siddiqui, president, GCS, Carrier HVAC, to hear about its global business strategies focusing on synergies based on these acquisitions.

5. Musings on HVAC&R - The Human Body Is a Measuring Instrument
In recent years, measuring instruments and various sensors have been developed to a remarkable extent. Various sensors such as image sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, and CO2 sensors are used to improve the accuracy of measuring instruments and to improve control. For this reason, developers tend to judge whether an air conditioner is good or bad based on data and documents. Air conditioning is intended for people, so it is important for people to actually experience it, to make judgments based on their senses, and then to make a final decision.
