Trane & Carrier Move to Next Phase of the Residential CCHP Challenge

As part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Initiative for Better Energy, Emissions, and Equity to advance research, development, and deployment of clean heating and cooling systems including heat pumps, DOE is sponsoring the Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP) Challenge. According to DOE, “The CCHP Challenge specifications represent a best‑in‑class heat pump product that provides high-efficiency heating performance in cold climates, employs environmentally friendly low‑global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and is designed to be grid interactive.”
