Daikin Releases Its Patents on R32 VRFs in Europe
2022-07-24
The European air conditioner industry is at the forefront of the world in the carbon neutrality context. Over the last few years, Europe has rapidly shifted the refrigerant used in room air conditioners (RACs) and packaged air conditioners (PACs) from the traditional R410A with a higher global warming potential (GWP) to the mildly flammable (A2L) refrigerant R32 with a lower GWP. In 2021, R32 models accounted for about 60% of the European split-type RAC and PAC markets. The penetration of R32 models in 2021 is projected to have reached more than 80% and 70% in the major European RAC and PAC markets respectively, excluding Russia and the surrounding countries where R32 models are not yet popular.
