1. Daikin Europe Wins Foreign Investment of the Year Trophy
Daikin Europe announced it has won the Foreign Investment of the Year Trophy, awarded by Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT). This award is a recognition of the important commitment of Daikin Europe towards Flanders and Europe, highlighted by its €140 million (about US$ 152 million) investment in a new research center EMEA Development Center (EDC) in Ghent, Belgium.

2. The Indian Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Manufacturers Association (RAMA) Chalk out HVAC&R Industry Roadmap in Webinar on PLI
K. J. Jawa, president of RAMA mentioned that the PLI scheme will transform the air conditioning industry, which is targeting to raise the country’s annual air conditioner production to 40 million in 10 years from just about four million now. About 75% of the country’s air conditioner components are imported from countries like Thailand, China, and Malaysia. “This must change, and the PLI scheme is an important driver of this change,” he said.

3. Midea Thailand Smart Factory to Start RAC Production in June
Midea is setting up an air conditioner factory in Sriracha, Chonburi, Thailand. The factory is the largest overseas investment of Midea Group in recent years. In addition, it will be an overseas intelligent, automated, and digital green benchmark factory of Midea Group, empowered by artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and other advanced technologies. The Midea Thailand Smart Factory is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of 4 million units. Trial production was started in January 2022 and official operation is expected to be started in June 2022.

4. LG Receives AHRI Performance Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

5. Carrier Provides HVAC Equipment for Zhejiang Cloud Computing Center
Carrier China provided 30 AquaEdge 19XRV low-voltage variable frequency centrifugal chillers that supports up to 200,000 servers. “This year is the 120th anniversary of the invention of modern air conditioning, and Carrier is committed to developing innovative and high-efficiency HVAC solutions aligned with China’s national dual carbon goals and Carrier’s 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint by more than one gigaton,” said Titus Yu, managing director, Carrier HVAC North Asia.
