Indian AC Market Shows Vigorous Recovery

In India, the sales volume of air conditioners decreased significantly in 2020 due to the impact of lockdowns associated with the pandemic. However, in 2021, it showed a steady recovery along with improvement in the gross domestic product (GDP) and the inflation rate. According to JARN’s database, the sales volume of air conditioners in India is estimated to have increased by 31.6% in 2021, compared with 2020.In 2021, sales of room air conditioners (RACs) also recovered significantly. The wall-mounted split type is the most popular in the Indian RAC market. Within this category, the inverter penetration rate reached about 50% and the R32 share surpassed 70%.
