1. World Compressor Market in 2021 - OVERVIEW & Rotary compressor
In 2021, Stay-at-home demand continues to drive the residential market, but the growth momentum has significantly weakened compared with OVERVIEW 2020. There are apparent differences in the increases and decreases in needs in various regions. The global rotary compressor market amounted to 212.31 million units, indicating an 9.3% year-on year increase in 2021. The rotary compressor market scale in 2021 by region amounted to 169.94 million units in China, 15.31 million units in Southeast Asia, 5.19 million units in India, 6.24 million units in Europe, 3.67 million units in Japan, 2.22 million units in the Middle East, 2.41 million units in Brazil, and 1.85 million units in the United States.

2. Scroll compressor
In 2021, market demand for scroll compressors grew by 7.2%, reaching 15.78 million units. As the world’s largest market, the United States indicated 11.4% growth, and China, the world’s second- largest market, presented a significant decrease of 19.5%. The European market with the exception of Turkey and Russia saw an increase of 16.9%, and Southeast Asia showed a decrease of 3.3%.

3. Screw compressor
Global demand for screw compressors for AC&R amounted to 128,500 units in 2021, demonstrating a 5.3% year-on-year increase. China, Europe, and the United States were the largest markets. Their market scales in 2021 were 64,300 units, 22,900 units, and 21,100 units, respectively. India, Japan, and South Korea followed.

4. Reciprocating compressors
Demand for global semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors reached 642,100 units in 2021, an increase of 12.1% compared with 2020. Growth was seen in cold storage applications. Demand for hermetic reciprocating compressors for light commercial use reached 23.8 million units in 2021, an increase of 13.8% compared with 2020.

5. Centrifugal compressor
The world market scale for centrifugal compressors is estimated to have reached 18,700 units in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. The magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor market increased around 10.0% compared with 2020 due to the demand in the data centers and pharmaceutical industry. China and the United States are the two largest centrifugal chiller markets, and production is also concentrated in these two countries.
