Thermo King to Reduce Transport Refrigeration GWP by Almost 50%

Thermo King, Trane’s transport refrigeration brand, announced that was transitioning its truck and trailer units to use R425A refrigerant with lower GWP as standard. This industry-leading move will reduce the carbon footprint of the refrigerant used in Thermo King long-haul, middle-mile, and last-mile delivery fleets by close to 50%. This will prevent emissions of about 650,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per year, or the same as one year of emissions from 143,000 passenger vehicles.
