Heat Pump Deployment – Europe’s Top Seven Countries
2022-02-28
The UK-based eco experts reported that the European countries with the highest uptake of heat pumps in 2020 are the following in descending order: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, France, and Switzerland. With 24,675 heat pumps installed per 100,000 inhabitants, Norway is the leader. Norway has achieved a level of almost one heat pump per four inhabitants thanks to long-standing government subsidies of at least £1,100 (about US$ 1,500) per homeowner, promoting a shift away from fossil fuels. In 2020, Norway banned oil heating entirely.
