Japan to Raise RAC Energy Efficiency Standard Values in April 2022

The new Japanese energy-saving performance standard for room air conditioners (RACs) is expected to come into effect in April 2022. This is the first revision since 2006. With this revised version, the Japanese government will further improve the energy-saving performance of RACs, and will oblige manufacturers to reduce the power consumption of split-type RACs by up to around 30% from the current level, aiming at the overarching realization of carbon neutrality in 2050.
