1. Review of the Global AC Market in the First Half of 2021
According to a JARN survey, the global RAC market scale in the first half of 2021 is estimated to have increased by 1.8% compared with the same period in 2020, supported by the demand associated with the normalization of remote working from home. Meanwhile, the global packaged air conditioner (PAC) and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system markets have been slow to recover. This delay in recovery was due to a decrease in demand for construction projects and commercial use.

5. Musings on HVAC&R- Development of AC Control Is Amazing
The evolution of controls and software is remarkable, especially in the areas of communications, information technology (IT), and audio and visual (AV). Development and manufacturing technologies for semiconductors and microprocessors used in these fields have been advancing at a tremendous pace. In the future, this remarkable speed of evolution and the tendency to apply these technologies, which were developed in communications, IT, and AV, to home appliances and air conditioners, will continue. As described above, recent air conditioner control is mainly based on electronic technology such as a microcontroller. However, since the main technology in air conditioning is still the refrigeration cycle, the development of innovative mechanical control is expected to take place in the future.
