School without AC at 50ºC Ambient
2021-08-25
The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School, located in the Thar desert, one of the hottest places in the world with temperatures soaring to 50ºC along with harsh winds, is made of yellow sandstone and has no air conditioners. It uses natural heat transfer modes – conduction, convection, and radiation – to move the heat away from the building. Students can study and even play in the courtyard without being bothered about the extreme weather.
