1. Food Processing Industry Poised for Fast Growth in India
The processed food market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approx. 12% during 2020–2024. Major industries contributing to the food processing industry are grains, sugar, edible oils, and beverages. The major sub-segments of the food processing industry in India are dairy, fruit and vegetables, poultry and meat processing, fisheries, and food retail. Indian annual household consumption is expected to treble by 2030. Since all these sub-segments need a robust cold chain to deliver their products to consumers and ports, it augurs well for rapid growth of the cold chain industry in India.

4. Increasing AC Demand in Indonesia Causes Short Supply
According to Perprindo, Association of Cooling and Refrigeration Companies in Indonesia, there is a higher demand for air conditioners as the country enters into the dry season. However, supply cannot meet this demand, leaving air conditioner sales in the first four months of this year down from this period last year. Perprindo also indicated that the limited supply of air conditioners is mainly caused by restrictions on import quotas since last year. Importers must apply for an air conditioner import approval from the government, however, the number of imported units approved usually falls below expectations.
