2021-06-21
While India was relaxing COVID-related restrictions, and opening up due to the plateauing of infections during December 2020 and February 2021, a strong second wave of the pan- demic started lashing the country in mid-February. Its intensity surpassed the first wave, and by mid-April several states of the country had declared strict restrictions on the movement of people, including the sale of non-essential items. The second wave seems to have peaked by mid-May, and the industry expects restrictions to be phased out by July-August.
