7.2 Centrifugal & Screw
2021-03-29
Centrifugal refrigeration compressors have been used for almost a century as major equipment for large heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as for process cooling equipment in industrial applications, and currently cover a broad cooling capacity range from 60 to 5,500 tons. There are no other refrigeration gas compressors that are better than centrifugal compressors in terms of efficiency and cost for large capacity ranges. Centrifugal compressors compress refrigerant gases by continuously converting the kinematic energy created by the rotation of impeller wheels into pressure, and thereby can handle a large amount of gas.
