New Report on Environmental Dumping of Obsolete RACs in Africa
2020-08-24
A compelling new report finds that about 35% of the room air conditioners (RACs) sold in Africa have energy efficiency ratings of less than 3.0 W/ W and use obsolete R22 and R410A refrigerants scheduled for phase-out and phase-down respectively under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The report was authored by the Collaborative Labeling and Appliance Standards Program (CLASP) and the IGSD.
