In Italy, the air-to-water (ATW) heat pump market recorded €222.8 million (US$ 250.6 million) in 2019, an increase of 26% from €176.8 million (US$ 198.9 million) in 2018. Of them, the range with nominal capacities below 17 kW, which are typically used in the residential segment, accounted for approximately 50%. In this capacity range, the heat pump type accounted for 97% and the cooling-only type accounted for only 3%, showing a clear indication that the mini-chiller cooling-only type seems to be disappearing.
