In October 2016, the European Union (EU) ratified the Paris Agreement on climate change and enabled its entry into force in November 2016. The latest data show that Member States will meet their 2020 targets and that, if no additional policies are implemented, emissions in 2030 are expected to be 30% lower than in 1990.
