3.1 ITALY

The Italian variable refrigerant flow (VRF) market in 2019 registered a new historic sales record, with an estimated market volume of approximately 25,000 units, with a 7.3% increase from 23,300 units in 2018, combining mini-VRF systems with a nominal cooling capacity of less than 16 kW and VRFs with a nominal cooling capacity of more than 16 kW. On a value basis, a total of €99.84 million (US$ 107.47 million) of mini-VRF and VRF outdoor units were sold in 2019, an increase of 7.4% from €93 million (US$ 100 million) in 2018. By capacity, mini-VRFs with capacities below 16 kW and larger VRFs with capacities of over 50 kW achieved double-digit growth in 2019 as shown in Table 1.
