1. Sustainable Thermal Solutions for Small Stores in Europe
— Report on EuroShop 2020 in Düsseldorf, Germany
Of the various retail industries, the cold chain-related segment in Europe is ahead of the rest of the world. The cold chain aims to keep foods fresh and requires a large amount of refrigeration equipment, which is rapidly evolving in line with the strengthening of environmental protection and energy conservation policies. At the same time, the construction of cold chain infrastructure such as food retail has become a focus of attention. JARN’s reporters found these trends striking at EuroShop 2020, the world’s No.1 retail trade fair, which was held from February 16 to 20 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

2. Daikin Group Combining Its Forces to Grow in the European Refrigeration & Heating Markets
At EuroShop, the world’s largest retail trade fair held in Germany in February, JARN interviewed Junji Umamoto, vice president of Daikin Europe, to hear about its business strategies focusing on the refrigeration and heating fields.

3. Carrier to Provide an European Wholesale Giant with CO2 Systems
Carrier Commercial Refrigeration has entered into an agreement with wholesale center operator, Metro, to provide CO2 systems to the majority of its European stores. Within the framework of Metro’s F-gas Exit Program, the company aims to convert over 760 Cash & Carry stores to natural refrigerant systems and halve its CO2 footprint by 2030.

4. Samsung India to Re-enter Window and Non-Inverter Split AC Segment
A Samsung India is re-entering the window and non-inverter split-type air conditioner segments in India in 2020 with a mass pricing strategy, in a bid to regain its market share that dropped after it decided to exit these segments to focus on the premium segment. The company has demerged its room air conditioner (RAC) business from consumer electronics, and system air conditioning from its business-to business (B2B) vertical, to give them dedicated focus.

5. ENGIE Concentrates Production of CO2 High-temperature Heat Pumps in Lindau
ENGIE Refrigeration is reorganizing its heat pump division. From now on, the refrigeration and heating specialist will produce all the CO2 high temperature heat pumps in its portfolio at its head office in Lindau.
With this decision, ENGIE Refrigeration has achieved its strategic objective of adapting the high production standards of its entire product portfolio to its CO2 high-temperature heat pumps, thereby offering customers the best possible refrigeration and heating solutions.
