The Indian government implements a default temperature setting on room air conditioners

2020-02-07
The Indian Government has imposed a default temperature setting of 24 °C on room air conditioners with effect from January 1, 2020.

This is the outcome of the campaign launched in 2018 under the leadership of Energy Minister Shri R. K. Singh, who had stated that it would significantly reduce electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from air conditioning (see our article ”24 °C in Mumbai”).
