1. Indian Blue Star to Double Its Capacity to 1 Million
Air conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R) manufacturer Blue Star announced on April 11 that its capacity will double to one million units per annum by the end of 2022 after the commissioning of its plant in Andhra Pradesh, South India. The company is building the plant with investment of US$ 25.7 million at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.

2. Castel Expanding Its Business Foothold to Come Closer to Its Customers
During China Refrigeration Exhibition (CRH) 2019 held in Shanghai in April, JARN visited Castel’s booth and interviewed Michele Roda, chief executive officer (CEO) of Castel, and Yaqing Zhang, CEO of Castel Refrigeration (Shanghai), to hear about the company’s profile, business performance, highlighted exhibits at CRH, among other facets.

3. TCL Designs the Game Trophy for FIBA Basketball World Cup in China
The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held at seven locations in China from August 31 to September 15, 2019, with teams participating for the first time. As the official global partner of FIBA, the international basketball federation, and the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, TCL announced with FIBA in May 2019 the design of the Player of the Game Trophy created by TCL for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

4. Daikin Patent Non-Assertion Pledge for Equipment Using HFC-32
On July 1, 2019, Daikin announced its Pledge describing the granting of free access to its pledged patents in relation to applicable heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) equipment using non-blended, single-component refrigerant HFC-32 (R32). Providing this free access to these pledged patents without requiring a written contract with Daikin will further international adoption of HFC-32, which has a lower global warming impact than many refrigerants commonly used today.

5. Musings on HVAC&R - Top 5 VRF Components and Technologies
Close to 40 years have passed since the birth of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system, which has since gradually spread around the world. The variety of VRF products that are available are growing more diverse, with cooling-only, heat pump, and simultaneous heating and cooling types as well as types that can reuse existing piping. One reason why VRF has become a leading solution in the air conditioning field is the competitive development of technologies and components integral to VRF systems. Without these advances, VRF would not have achieved the widespread penetration it has today
