1. Brazilian Split-type RAC Market Registers 28% Growth in Q1 2019
The summer of 2019 in Brazil was one of the hottest in recent years. In addition, a slight recovery in economic activity has emerged this year compared with last year. These factors positively impacted the sales performance of air conditioners in Brazil. According to data from ABRAVA, sales of air conditioners rose considerably in the first quarter of 2019. Preliminary data for the quarter show that sales of split-type room air conditioners grew by 28% and sales of packaged air conditioners and chillers grew by 20% on tonnage basis.

2. ebm-papst Remains Innovative Leader through Continuous R&D
At ISH trade fair held in March in Germany, JARN visited ebm-papst’s booth to discover ‘Made-in-Germany Power’. At the booth, JARN interviewed Stefan Brandl, chief executive officer (CEO), Group Management of ebm-papst, to hear about the company’s exhibits at ISH, new plant in China, and business focus, among others

3. Johnson Controls Opens HVAC Rooftop Center of Excellence
Johnson Controls (JCI) officially opened the state-of-the-art Rooftop Center of Excellence design, manufacturing and testing facility during a grand opening event on April 17. The facility has been located in Norman, Oklahoma for nearly 50 years and will now serve as the flagship location for industry research, manufacturing and testing of JCI HVAC rooftop units. The 900,000 ft2 (84,000 m2) facility includes almost 400,000 ft2 (37,000 m2) of incremental laboratory and manufacturing space and renovations to over 150,000 ft2 (14,000 m2) of office and meeting space.

4. European Heat Pump Market Grows 12% in 2018
According to European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) data from 19 European countries, the heat pump market in 2018 achieved growth of 12% with respect to 2017, with more than 1.25 million heat pumps sold. This means that the heat pump market is growing for the sixth year in a row, with double-digit growth over the last four years. France is still the leader of the pack, and further expansion is expected in 2019.

5. Chinese AC Manufacturers at the 125th Canton Fair
Canton Fair, the 125th China Import and Export Fair, was held from April 15 to 19, 2019 at China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. Many Chinese air conditioner manufacturers attended the fair, promoted their products, and achieved lots of closed deals.
