1. Ukraine and Hisense Forging Ahead Together
At the end of 2018, Hisense Ukraine Showroom opened its doors to customers in Kiev. More than 70 visitors including customers, partners, contractors and Hisense VRF management attended the opening ceremony. On Feb. 25, 2019, Mr. Bao Yi, general manager of Hisense VRF Global Business visited Hisense Ukraine Showroom. He appreciated the showroom and highlighted the contribution of Hisense Ukraine and its General Manager Mr. Yuriy Stratiy, to the enhancement of the company’s brand recognition in the country. During his visit, Mr. Bao shared the company’s global development plans and information about the construction of a third variable refrigerant flow (VRF) factory with a total area of 120,000 m2 in Qingdao, China.

2. Yanmar Announces KKU Group to Join Energy Systems Division
On March 11, 2019, during ISH 2019, Yanmar announced that the Eschenfelder KKU Group has joined the Yanmar Group effective April 1, 2019. With both parties joining forces, Yanmar is able to strengthen its development activities to further expand tailor made solutions for its customers in Germany and the rest of Europe. By joining Yanmar, KKU ensures its timely access to new technology and sustainable solutions for its active and new customer base.

3. Torad’s Spool Compressor for a Smarter Environmental Future
For the past 10 years, the team at Torad Engineering in Cumming, Georgia, the United States has been developing the next-generation refrigerant compressor. Its patented rotary spool machine technology is being designed to enable near-zero global warming air conditioning across a broad range of applications. Torad has designed the spool compressor to be flexible for multiple applications. Torad’s current focus is on commercial air conditioning between 22 and 350 kW (7.5–100 ton). Torad is now testing R1234ze with a 105 kW (30 ton) prototype spool compressor originally designed for use with R134a.

4. Samsung Evolving Its HVAC&R Products by Leveraging AI & IoT Technology
During HARFKO 2019 held in March in Korea, JARN visited Samsung’s booth and interviewed
Ph.D. Hyeongjoon Seo, head of Lab, R&D Team, Digital Appliances Business, Samsung, to hear about
the company’s air conditioning business performance, product features, new businesses, and refrigerant strategy.

5. Frascold Records Rapid Sales Growth in China
In 2018, Frascold screw compressors saw rapid growth in China and it has more than doubled its growth rate in the second half of 2018 compared with the same period in 2017. After setting up as a wholly owned subsidiary of Italy-based Frascold in 2014, Frascold Shanghai has achieved rapid shipment of its compressors via a large warehouse. Frascold uses regional distributor systems to cover the whole country.
