1. 30th CRH Expo Coming to Shanghai in April
The 30th International Exhibition for Refrigeration, Air-conditioning, Heating and Ventilation, Frozen Food Processing, Packaging and Storage (CRH 2019) is scheduled to take place from April 9 to 11, 2019 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai, China. JARN will publish a Preview of CRH 2019 in the March Regular Issue of JARN magazine.

2. France Launches Program to Replace Old Boilers
François de Rugy, minister of Ecological Transition, and Julien Denormandie, minister of Housing, along with representatives from energy-related companies, Engie, Effy, EDF, and Total, met on January 24 in order to announce boiler replacement incentives. François de Rugy announced an ambitious target: the replacement of 600,000 inefficient boilers operating on domestic fuel, coal or gas within two years. Condensing boilers will not be part of the replacement program. Effy and Engie are promoting a shift to ultra-high-performance heat pumps.

3. Fujitsu General Launches Cypetherm Energy Modeling Software
Fujitsu General America introduces Cypetherm with EnergyPlus energy modelling and report generation software. Cypetherm software allows professionals to model and simulate HVAC energy demand and consumption in the building with AIRSTAGE variable refrigerant flow (VRF) sy-tems and compare results with other commonly used HVAC equipment. The system quickly and easily estimates potential energy savings and return on investment (ROI) values.

4. Clivet Locates Its Asian Production Base in Chongqing, China
Clivet, a renowned Italian commercial air conditioner manufacturer, located its Asian production base in the Chongqing economic development zone. This facility will begin operations in the second half of 2019. In the first half of 2018, Midea Group acquired Clivet and decided to locate the Clivet Asian production base on the premises of Chongqing Midea General Refrigeration Equipment. Another RMB 100 million (US$ 14.7 million) will be invested in R&D and a production line retrofit. It is expected that Clivet brand production will be carried out in the second half of 2019.

5. Carrier China Water- cooled Chillers Propel China’s Digital Economy
Carrier China entered into an agreement to provide one of the biggest online commerce companies, Alibaba Group, with water-cooled chillers for its data centers across China. Alibaba chose Carrier China for its advanced water-cooled chillers, rich experience in serving data center customers, as well as world-class local production capability. Featuring optimized operational reliability and energy efficiency, Carrier variable frequency centrifugal liquid chillers will be used to safeguard the smooth running of Alibaba’s data centers even under the most demanding circumstances.
