1. ebm-papst Expanding System Supplying Activities with IoT Digitalization
At Chillventa held in October 2018, ebm-papst cast a spotlight on its new Internet of Things (IoT) and digitalization businesses, aiming to move from a traditional component supplier to a system supplier. As a tool to realize this aim, ‘GreenIntelligence’, which turns ebm-papst energy-efficient fans and drives into intelligently interconnected complete solutions, made its debut at Chillventa.

2. 2018 AC Market Review in Turkey
According to the interim inventory studies conducted by İSKİD committees, the air conditioner market size for 2018 is predicted to reach 750,000 to 760,000 units. Investments made in domestic production and consolidation of companies in the market in 2018 also contributed to the last quarter of 2018 being a dynamic period. In 2018, Mitsubishi Electric also began to sell products from its facility in Turkey. In addition, Arçelik engaged in manufacturing with LG as a joint venture in Turkey, switched to local manufacturing of light commercial product groups and air conditioning systems with variable refrigerant flow (VRF). With the launch of Daikin’s air conditioning production facility, an important competitive environment has been created in the air conditioning industry, and is favorable for consumers.

3. Carrier Introduces Puron Advance: the Next-Generation Refrigerant
After extensive tests and evaluation, Carrier has identified R454B, to be known commercially as Puron Advance, as its primary lower global warming potential (GWP) solution to replace R410A in all of its ducted residential and light commercial packaged solutions sold in North America. The new refrigerant, to be offered in these Carrier products beginning in 2023, is expected to surpass the requirements of anticipated future regulations.

4. Cherbrooke Becomes General Distributor of Panasonic in Russia
Cherbrooke and Panasonic signed an agreement that marked a new phase in the long-standing strategic partnership between the two companies. In May 2018, Cherbrooke became the one sole distributor of Panasonic’s split air conditioning products in the metropolitan area in Russia, which was extended to the entire territory of the Russian Federation from 2019.

5. Gree Winning Projects in Indonesia through Its Proshops
On November 29, Gree opened Perwata Proshop, its third flagship air conditioner experience store in Indonesia in the prosperous business district of Pluit in Jakarta after having launched another store in Jakarta and a store in Surabaya. The Proshop is mainly engaged in commercial air conditioners, which will provide a complete set of solutions for largescale projects in Indonesia from design and supply to installation and maintenance.
