AHRI Releases November 2018 Shipment Data

Residential Storage Water Heaters

U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters for November 2018 increased 1%, to 341,158 units, up from 337,947 units shipped in November 2017. Residential electric storage water heater shipments decreased 3% in November 2018 to 319,806 units, down from 329,800 units shipped in November 2017.

Year-to-date U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters increased 3.5%, to 4,109,944, com- pared to 3,971,350 shipped during that same period in 2017. Residential electric storage water heater shipments increased 2.3% year-to-date, to 3,860, 324 units, compared to 3,772,893 shipped during the same period in 2017.

Commercial Storage Water Heaters

Commercial gas storage water heater shipments decreased 2.2% in November 2018, to 6,620 units, down from 6,766 units shipped in November 2017. Commercial electric storage water heater shipments decreased 31% in November 2018, to 10,125 units, down from 14,684 units shipped in November 2017.

Year-to-date U.S. shipments of commercial gas storage water heaters increased 1.4%, to 86,294 units, compared with 85,121 units shipped during the same period in 2017. Year- to-date commercial electric storage water heater shipments decreased 10.3%, to 124,578 units, down from 138,914 units shipped during the same period in 2017.

Central ACs and ASHPs

U. S. shipments of central air conditioners and ASHPs totaled 450,399 units in November 2018, up 4.3% from 431,668 units shipped in November 2017. U.S. shipments of central air conditioners increased 1.8%, to 274, 586 units, up from 269,842 units shipped in November 2017. U.S. shipments of ASHPs increased 8.6%, to 175,813 units, up from 161,826 units shipped in November 2017.

Year-to-date combined shipments of central air conditioners and ASHPs increased 7%, to 7,848,276, up from 7,332,033 units shipped during the same period in 2017. Year-to-date shipments of central air conditioners increased 4.4%, to 5,107,440 units, up from 4,891,764 units shipped during the same period in 2017. The year-to-date total for ASHP shipments increased 12.3%, to 2,740,836, up from 2,440,269 units shipped during the same period in 2017.
