1. World ATW Heat Pump Market: OVERVIEW
In 2017, global ATW heat pump demand reached 2.66 million units, a continuous increase from 2016. The major markets are concentrated in China, Japan, and Europe, accounting for 68.8%, 16.8% and 10.8% of the global market respectively.

2. Europe
JARN estimated that the European ATW heat pump market reached 287,000 units in 2017, growing 12.1% over last year. Of this total, France accounted for 54.0%, followed by Germany and Italy. Together, these three countries account for nearly 75% of the entire European ATW heat pump market.

3. Japan
Japan has a mature ATW heat pump market which has a long sales history. According to statistics from the Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA), Japan’s ATW heat pump market in 2017 reached 437,000 units, up 3.9% over the previous year.

4. China
China launched Coal to Electricity policy to reduce air pollution problems, especially in Northern China. This policy has actively promoted the development of the ATW heat pump market. JARN estimates that demand in the Chinese market reached 1.83 million units in 2017, an increase of 41.0% from 2016.

5. Providing an Insight into DecarbHeat Forum
DecarbHeat took place in Brussels on June 7, 2018, within the framework of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week. On this occasion, JARN interviewed Thomas Nowak, secretary general of European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) who co-organized DecarbHeat, to hear about this event.
