1. World VRF Market – 2017 Overview
Stimulated by the rising economy, the global variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system market continues to grow steadily and reached 1.7 million units in 2017 based on outdoor units, an increase of 13.5% over the previous year.

2. China
In 2017, the Chinese VRF market experienced a relatively large increase in the first half of the year, which has declined somewhat since September. On the whole, in 2017, China’s VRF market achieved very satisfactory results and nearly 1.05 million units were sold, an increase of more than 16.3% over the previous year.

3. Europe
The size of the European market reached 162,400 units in 2017, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year. Europe is a mature market and there are two factors that will drive market growth. One is that the VRF market in Western European countries has reached the replacement period, especially in Southern Europe in countries such as Italy, Spain, and France. Another factor is the growth of emerging markets in Europe. For example, Turkey has become the largest VRF market in Europe, and Eastern Europe is also growing rapidly.

4. Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asian VRF market of seven countries, namely Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Myanmar, recorded sales of 58,000 units in 2017, an 10.8% increase compared with 2016. Demand from commercial buildings, villas, and hotels has been rising sharply in the region, and is the main driver of market growth.

5. North America
The U.S. VRF market has seen double-digit growth for the last several years. A relatively robust U.S. economy in 2017 helped push up VRF demand in particular, more evidence that this new technology continues to attract attention in the United States, where air conditioning has been enjoyed for more than 100 years.
 According to JARN data, the U.S. VRF market came to 39,500 units in 2017, indicating a 9.7% growth rate.
