1. Daikin India Establishes Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing
In 2016, India and Japan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for setting up four Japan-India Institutes of Manufacturing (JIM) in India. The purpose of the MoC was to facilitate transfer of manufacturing skills from Japan to India. Daikin India was one of the four companies selected to take this forward. It has now established a JIM at a 20,000 m2 plot of land close to its factory at Neemrana. The institute has been accredited by METI (The Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Japan). It was inaugurated digitally by Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe on September 14, 2017 during the latter’s visit to Ahmedabad.

2. Cultural Fusion of U.S. & Asian ACs Showcased at 2018 AHR Expo
The 2018 AHR Expo was held from January 22 to 24 at McCormick Place in Chicago, the United States. In recent years, Asian air conditioner manufacturers have been more actively developing their ductless business in the United States. Against this background, the United States, which has deep-rooted ducted air conditioner culture, is now absorbing ductless air conditioners. At the 2018 AHR Expo, there were increasing numbers of manufacturers exhibited both ducted and ductless air conditioners.

3. Climaveneta Powermaster Becomes Part of Mitsubishi Electric
Mitsubishi Electric has announced the absorption of Climaveneta Powermaster Ltd., Climaveneta UK trading activities for Climaveneta chillers, cooling products, and services, from January 1, 2018, with Climaveneta becoming a branded product family within the Mitsubishi Electric portfolio. The move allows Mitsubishi Electric to access the UK’s chiller market with an advanced range of products that will now be supported by Mitsubishi Electric’s strong commitment to quality and service.

4. Smart Home Appliances at CES 2018 in Las Vegas
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 was held from January 9 to 12 in Las Vegas, the United States. At the show, an array of groundbreaking technologies were introduced, explored, and analyzed over the past days, showing that the world is heading towards a more connected future. Smart Cities at CES spotlighted many of these innovative technologies, including the fifth generation (5G), artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT)

5. Gree PV AC Project Launched in the U.S
In January 2018, the signing ceremony for a Gree photovoltaic (PV) variable refrigerant flow (VRF) unit project was held at the sales headquarters of PhoenixMart in Arizona, the United States. PhoenixMart, located in Phoenix, is the largest modern new brand center in North and South America with both online and offline business operational modes, integrating wholesales, Internet marketing, and logistics trade exhibition. With a floor area of 600,000 m2, PhoenixMart adopts Gree PV air conditioners with a total cooling capacity of over 4,200 tons, which is the largest PV air conditioning project in the United States and even in the world at present.
