1. Fujitsu General & GIH Makes a Comprehensive Tie-up Agreement
On November 21, 2017, Fujitsu General and Italy-based G.I. Holding (GIH) entered into a basic agreement concerning a comprehensive tie-up including joint development related to commercial air conditioners. Through this tie-up, Fujitsu General intends to strengthen the product lineup addressing the needs of the commercial air conditioner market, and GIH will be able to leverage the technologies and sales network of Fujitsu General to achieve expansion of mutual business. Both companies will continue discussions concerning the expansion of sales of commercial air conditioners in Europe and other markets of the world.

2. 2018 AHR Expo in Chicago to Show the Future of HVAC&R Industry
The 2018 International Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) will be held from January 22 to 24, 2018 at McCormick Place in Chicago, the United States. With more than 2,000 anticipated exhibitors and over 65,000 anticipated attendees, the world’s largest heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) event is co-sponsored by American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and is held concurrently with ASHRAE’s Winter Conference.

3. Kulthorn Kirby Increasing Overseas Sales with Its High-efficiency Model

4. Haier CAC Celebrates the First Anniversary of Interconnection Factory in Qingdao
On November 9, Haier central air conditioning (CAC) held a Media Open Day and celebrated the first anniversary of the world’s first central air conditioning interconnection factory in Qingdao, China. More than 200 reporters from the fields of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), finance, science and technology, comprehensive news, and other mainstream television, print and online media experienced the Haier CAC interconnection factory on site. JARN was also invited and attended the event.

5. AGC to Accelerate Marketing of Low-GWP Refrigerant R1224yd
As reported in the November 2017 issue of JARN, the new refrigerant AMOLEA 1224yd (trade name) developed by Asahi Glass (AGC) obtained (ASHRAE) certification in October 2017 ? refrigerant number R1224yd. It is a nonflammable and low-toxicity type of refrigerant with HCFO-1224yd as its single component. Since its global warming potential (GWP) is less than 1, it has a very low impact on the environment. It is suitable for centrifugal chillers, binary cycle generators, and waste heat recovery heat pumps, exhibiting a refrigerant performance higher than that of R245fa.  AGC intends to launch the commercial production of this new refrigerant from the beginning of 2018.
