1. Paris Agreement Offers Business Opportunities
Progressive companies have announced emission reduction targets and environmental visions based on the Paris Agreement. What jumps out in these plans is how companies plan to pursue business opportunities from CO2 emission reductions. A major feature of the plans is their approach of combining a post-carbon future with business, which will enable environmental and business sustainability.

2. Siam Compressor Industry (SCI) Aims to Double Its Scroll Sales by FY 2020
With sales of scroll compressors of about 0.3 million units in fiscal year 2016, Mitsubishi Electric Group’s wholly- owned subsidiary, SCI aims to increase this sales figure to 0.6 million units in fiscal year 2020. SCI’s scroll compressors have a wide range of applications such as air conditioning systems including RACs, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, chillers, refrigeration equipment such as refrigerated display cases, and air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps.

3. LG’s Absorption Chillers Expand the Possibilities of Recycling
The LG hybrid absorption chiller uses heat sources such as steam, hot water, and exhaust gas to increase the overall energy efficiency of the combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system. In addition, it comes equipped with emergency backup direct gas heating that keeps the solution running in the event that combined heat and power (CHP) operation is interrupted. The hybrid absorption chiller can even be powered by solar cells on sunny days and direct gas firing when weather turns cloudy.

4. FEBRAVA 2017 Showcases Recovery of Brazilian HVAC&R Industry
During the four-day event, the 20th edition of FEBRAVA received about 28,000 visitors from the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) sector ranging from professionals and clients to national and international students. The fair attracted 282 exhibitors with more than 50 newcomers.

5. Haier Establishes Magnetic Bearing Technology Research Center
The establishment of the research center will further promote the development and application of the company’s new technologies, and will even replace traditional screw chillers and centrifugal chillers, accelerating the transition to the magnetic bearing era.
